Spitfires do the double over Lymm

This was a cracking game for the spectator with lots of passion, aggression and skill on show from both teams. Lymm, who spitfires beat away from home earlier in the season came for the win and played some excellent attacking rugby, distributing the ball well through the backs with good hands and skill. First points deservedly went to Lymm who ran the ball wide to go over. Spitfires, a little slow to wake up and get into the game struggled at times to cope with the running rugby that Lymm wanted to play, recycling the ball well from the breakdown. When this young Spitfires side are 'on' their game one of their key strengths is at the breakdown, driving the opposition off the ball for the turnover and this denied the opposition possession giving them ability to be in control more.
In fairness, despite the early lead from Lymm this was a well contested match from two very able sides, contested with aggression. Spitfires soon lifted their heads and got back into the match with no more than a try separating both sides for the remainder of the match. Resilience is a word that is used often with this side, and once again combined with some passion and desire for the win Spitfires fought back hard to draw the scores even.
With minutes on the clock, spitfires kicked from deep to camp out on the Lymm try line and fought hard to go over for the match winner at the final whistle. Well played lads, a great team effort from all those on the pitch and indeed the rolling substitutes. Now if spitfires can manage to start a match with the same impetus, speed of play and desire for the win that they usually end on, they can close a game far earlier. That said, a great match to watch overall.
