Autumnal rain doesn't dampen Spitfires desire

There was a lot to take from this match.
Last season spitfires beat Lymm away and went on to lose at home, so a good win today has set the benchmark and the return fixture win at home is needed when they visit in early February.
The weather (the less said the better) made handling hard for both teams who in general are very evenly matched, and errors inevitably followed. Lymm went over first with a well worked try and spitfires were again a little slow to get into the rhythm of the game and again they were drawn into the breakdown leaving space for the Lymm backs to exploit out wide. But all games are made of negatives and positives and there were many positives also. Once again, Spitfires desire for the win and resilience shone through, working hard for the ball and playing some canny rugby to score. Several chances were missed when they should have put points on the board, some of which we can put down to the conditions. But when they ran the ball they looked strong with some great support play.
The way these lads play for each other, rotating substitutes who slot into the game with ease is impressive in the least and it is clearly evident they play for each other with real passion.
A good away win and again the team should be proud with some great individual performances and real camaraderie and team spirit on show.
Onward to Ormskirk at home next week!
