Macclesfield put the brakes on Spitfires winning streak

A Beautiful autumnal morning away trip to Macclesfield who quickly put the brakes on Spitfires winning streak.
Macclesfield are a good side, well drilled with some big lads who were able to run the ball well and played with determination. Over the years they have become a bit of a bogey side for the team and have the ability to put together some great rugby.
As always however Spitfires heads were unbowed and we managed to get points on the board. However the team were not as clinical as they have been in recent weeks and some missed tackles and (again) a bit slow to the breakdown allowed Macc to capitalise and take the points.
The lads played well however and frustrated Macc in many areas winning some good turnover ball and running the ball wide before recycling the ball and going again. This was a deserved win by Macclesfield but as in many cases where Spitfires have been the recipient, it was a win from small margins despite the score.
Post match the Macclesfield coaches said this was the hardest game they had played this season and credit must go to the team who despite the fluidly attacking Macclesfield backs, kept battling until the final whistle. A very competitive game and despite the loss, much can be learned from this match which can be taken back to the training ground.
Well played to all the boys who as always did themselves proud.
