Four On The Bounce

Spitfires home visitors at Headlands Road today Ruthin, made the long trip across the border from North Wales. Watching their pre match warm up drills they looked a decent side with some crisp handling and breakdown skills. The test however would come when opposition were in front of them and here the difference was shown.
Ruthin ran some good ball from the breakdown through the backs with some excellent handling skills, but Spitfires were quick to put in some hard tackles to break down the attack and regain possession. There was some work to take back to the training ground, not leat our speed and involvement at the breakdown at times. But that said the lads ran the ball well showing real skill to play out wide and go over for the try.
This was another very good performance from the lads. They worked hard and cohesively to retain possession, switching the ball at times to counter-attack on the blind which worked well. Once again the lads showed real determination for the win and even when the score was beyond Ruthin they kept in the fight showing desire and some excellent rugby.
This is the teams fourth win on the bounce with only one loss so far this season and things appear to be really clicking into place as a group of young players. They won good turnover ball and with the rolling subs and fresh legs coming on there was certainly no let up in effort. Another great win and the lads should as always be very pleased with their efforts.
