A short hop this week to Winnington RFC in Cheshire where the rain and a good young side were waiting for us with confidence.
Winnington opened the score-line with a well worked try and some slick handling skills. Swift of hand and deft of foot this was a side that showed some real skill in attack with physicality and aggression. The lads went into the second quarter with much work to be done Winnington having scored a few tries, and then once again we saw that resilience and desire in all of the lads come to the fore. A closely fought match ensued with some impressive carries, but the rain was against both sides making conditions slippery and hard to control the ball. That said they did what the spitfires routinely do and dug deep to even the score line with sheer grit and determination. With the 1/4 breaks words of the coaches ringing in their ears and some raucous travelling support the lads camped in the winnington 22 before going over in the final minute for the winning try.
A really great effort again from the lads who didn't shy away from the big tackles and played aggressively and passionately showing real desire to take the away win.
An excellent effort once again and well done to all the team.
