Off to Winning Ways

First match of the new season and at home to Trafford MV.
The new season brought new changes for this developing young side - bigger team size, bigger pitches and new laws to embrace! Additionally, this is the first season that these lads have designated positions and they rose to the challenge well, as always. The lads were unphased by all the new changes however and put in an excellent shift on a hot September morning showing some great skill in running the ball wide and some good counter-rucking. There was a few signs of 'rustiness' however but that is to be expected and will undoubtedly iron out as the season progresses and they have more game time under their belts. Trafford did not give up however and threatened to score more tries, only for some excellent crunching tackling from the lads and great defensive play.
Its always good to start the season with a win, and they thoroughly deserved it.
Special mention must also go to the ref Gareth Kitchen, who was clear in his direction to both teams and managed to cover the larger pitch with ease and in style!
