Stockport travelled to Morley after a week off and had very shaky first half on a heavy pitch against a strong wind. They only managed one visit to the home 22 in the whole half, while the Morley standoff managed the game well and kept the pressure on their visitors. The home side led 13-3 at half time, having scored a try just before half time. Stockport turned the tables in the second half and after two more penalties, were awarded a penalty try deep into injury time to secure another win at 16-13.

The first half was very disappointing with too many errors and not enough cohesion, while the Morley players kept up real pressure whenever Stockport had possession. Two early penalty opportunities were missed by Morley before they created several scoring opportunities, Myles Hall just managed to bundle the Morley right wing into touch as he picked up a kick to the Stockport line. The home standoff then kicked a drop goal and a penalty to make it 6-0 on 35 minutes. Stockport secured 3 points as they eventually got into Morley territory. Desperate defence was needed and Paul Millea held the Morley centre up over the line and minutes later Morley failed to secure a try as a penalty was awarded to Stockport as Morley looked to have scored. Failure to gain territory with a penalty on half way resulted in Stockport losing possession and Morley eventually got a converted try after 7 minutes of injury time and a yellow card for Stockport’s Callum Baldwin.

The second half was a reversal, with Stockport dominating and camping in the Morley half for long periods, despite a yellow card for Jamie Anthony Stockport kept up the pressure. Dan Eccles was just prevented from scoring by the Morley flanker, who received a yellow card for his efforts. It was not until the 65th minute that Josh Longmore landed a penalty and 10 minutes later another to bring the score to 13-9. Again there were over 5 minutes of injury time when under real pressure the Morley scrum conceded a penalty try for a 16-13 Stockport victory.
