This was always going to a hard fixture, likely to be significant in the outcome of the division. Stockport once again matched solid defence with good continuity and passing to secure a 21-14 victory and remain top of the table, although Huddersfield do have games in hand.

Huddersfield were first on the board with a try after only 7 minutes, from a line out 10 metres out they drove and there was a chip kick over the defenders for the centre to score their only try of the game. Stockport then did well from the kick off and a penalty was converted by Josh Longmore before Huddersfield had their hooker sent to the sin bin for taking out Paul Milea in the air as he caught the restart. Advantage was taken as Stockport stole a Huddersfield line out on halfway and moved the ball quickly to the left for Myles Hall to run in and score. Longmore converted for 10-5 on 20 minutes. Stockport started to play with more confidence gaining another Longmore penalty. Towards the end of the half Stockport conceded 3 penalties under pressure from Huddersfield to make it 13-14 at the break.

Early in the second half Huddersfield looked to have created a scoring opportunity but Jamie Anthony just managed to get the wing into touch. Stockport resisted a period of pressure with good defence and Milea ran out to get them on the front foot again. A good Stockport attack ended with Callum Baldwin having the ball knocked out of his hands over the line. There was then more pressure from Huddersfield before an excellent Stockport attack started by Jonny Edwards, breaking down the middle and ended with Chris Roddy getting a try on 48 minutes. As the players got up after the try was awarded the referee gave prop Craig Anthony a red card for use of the boot on a Huddersfield player. Despite being a man down Stockport dominated most of the rest of the game. Huddersfield did look to have an opportunity to score but the final pass was knocked on by their right wing. Longmore completed the scoring with a penalty for the 21-14 result.
