Stockport concluded their first season in National 2 North with a good win against Huddersfield to confirm 10th place in the table.

It was a great performance for the final game, with the Stockport pack making the most of the wet and windy conditions with powerful scrumaging and good driving to dominate the home side for much of the game and win 17-6.
There was a positive start, with a scrum in the Huddersfield 22 and a try for blindside wing Jamie Anthony, with poor conditions for kicking the try was unconverted. Keeping up the pressure in the home 22 for the first 20 minutes there was some good recycling and running and when Huddersfield were penalised for an offence Stockport opted for a scrum, the ball was won and moved left and fullback Mike Barlow ran in for the second try on 27 minutes. The home No 12 received the first of 5 yellow cards shown by the referee. A series of penalties to Huddersfield resulted in a harsh card for Stockport hooker, Tom Cruse to give Huddersfield a penalty for a 10-3 half time score.
Huddersfield made a good start to the second half, with an early penalty and a break by their No 10 that carved open the Stockport defence, but the Stockport cover was just able to hold up the attack. There was something of a brawl and Stockport had Mike Bayssat sin binned, the touch judged called the refs attention to an earlier incident and Dave Marwick also got a card, soon after the Huddersfield No 6 joined them in the sin bin. Huddersfield were dominant in the third quarter but then the Stockport scrum started to totally dominate, with the arrival of Jan Anderson in the front row, frequently driving the home side off their own ball in the set. There was a powerful 30 metre drive from a lineout, which set up a scrum 5m out from the Huddersfield line and with the their pack under real pressure the penalty try awarded by the referee was inevitable. Alex Zavallis-Roebuck converted and with only 5 minutes left there was no way back for Huddersfield.
