Playing probably their best all round game of the season Stockport defeated visitors Nuneaton by 43-13

They scored 7 tries to complete a bonus point victory and move up a place in the table. Full back Steve Pearson, No 8 Jordan Pearson and hooker Tom Cruse all got two tries . After disappointments against Harrogate and Luctonians this was the day it all came together, continuity was good, ball was recycled quickly and both backs and forwards ran and passed well. With Nuneaton showing some early promise there was also a need for good defence, keeping the visitors out, with the exception of two tries from their well controlled rolling maul.
The visitors got the first score with a penalty after 5 minutes but Stockport were on the board only 3 minutes later as Paul Ralph was driven over with a secondary drive after a good lineout, Josh Longmore added the conversion. Nuneaton were awarded a penalty and from the lineout their drive was good and they got a try on 17 minutes, there was no conversion to make it 7-8. Stockport replied immediately with good play down the left and the ball was moved right with a long pass that gave Gregg Newton room to run and he unselfishly put Steve Pearson in for the try. Pearson scored his second only 6 minutes later after a great break by Longmore put him clear to score. The conversion was added to make it 19-8 on 26 minutes. Jordan Pearson got his first try as a scrum against the head allowed him to pick from the base of the scrum and run in, Longmore converted from the touchline and the bonus point was secured. An excellent line out move had Nic Smith collecting and running down the 5m channel before putting Cruse in for his first try, Longmore was on target again to make it 33-13 at half time.
After an early try with another drive from a lineout by Nuneaton Stockport dominated the second half, with well controlled play – there was a second try for Cruse following a break by Longmore, sustained recycling and an excellent long pass by Ralph. In the final minutes another well controlled scrum allowed Jordan Pearson to get his second try with a pick up and run for the line to complete the 43-13 scoreline.
