Young blood in the forwards stand up to the task and it was two out of two for the 1st XV's new change black kit.

Stockport showed great spirit to turn around a game which Hull Ionians had dominated completely in the first half. With a try from wing Scott Redfern and 4 out of 4 successful kicks from Josh Longmore, Stockport completed a 16-12 victory in this tough away fixture. Like other sides in the division Ionians have strengthened their side by importing players, while Stockport continue to successfully bring through young players that have been developed at the club to cover for injuries or absence.
Under pressure from the start Stockport conceded some 10 penalties in the first 10 minutes and had Captain Dave Marwick sin binned during that period. Given the pattern of play it was no surprise when the referee awarded a penalty try at a scrum, giving the home side a 7 point advantage. Despite the pressure Stockport defended well until Marwick returned and at last Stockport made progress into the home 22, Ionians clearance kick was fielded by full back Steve Pearson and he chipped over the defence and hacked on to allow wing Redfern to get the touch down . Longmore converted and against the odds Stockport were level after 25 minutes. Ionians kept up the pressure for the rest of the half, the Stockport defence held firm until a drive from a lineout gave the Hull side an unconverted try on the stroke of half time, to make it 7-12.
Ionians started the second half well but a penalty from Longmore made it 10-12 and Stockport were at last getting into the game. A penalty to touch 10 metres out gave Stockport a chance to drive over but the ball was lost. On 65 minutes Stockport Number 8 Jordan Pearson was sin binned for pulling down a maul, just as Stockport were gaining a measure of control. Ionians were unable to take advantage and Stockport started playing a better territorial game, with improved kicking from hand. Longmore converted a penalty as Ionians went over in a ruck to give Stockport the lead for the first time at 13-12. Stockport were now playing some good running rugby and after putting the home side under pressure in their 22 a penalty was awarded for offside, which Longmore converted to make it 16-12. The last few minutes were nervy as Stockport had to defend in their own 22 but a turnover allowed the ball to be put into touch to end the game.
This Saturday is a home game against Otley.
