Coach Tim Burgon called upon a squad of 24 for this traditional pre season game with Stoke based Longton. This was the 4th time we've met them at this time of year and the previous encounters were always close encounters. A quick check of the squad revealed that there were upwards of 12 players Still not available. The first 40 minutes were played out with a settled Stockport XV with only a couple of minor changes as the half was played out. We ran away into a 30+ point lead. Longton only came back into the game when Tim made wholesale changes in the 2nd period. A number of new faces were on view and all showed their potential and it was nice to see Jamie Anthony bag a 2nd try to finish off the scoring.
