During Women in Sport week, we are proud to announce the launch of our first ever Womens rugby squad!

Participation numbers in Womens Rugby in England have grown significantly since the national team lifted the World Cup in 2014. This week, the RFU have set an ambitious target to double the number of female players by 2021 and increase the number of clubs by 75%.

During the week that the England Rugby team adopt the name the "Red Roses" and to coincide with the national Women in Sport week campaign, Stockport are delighted to announce the launch of our first ever Womens Rugby Squad!

There are a number of different ways for Women and Girls to get involved in rugby at Stockport Rugby Club:

1) Players aged 13+ can come along to our Monday night O2 Touch sessions (7:30pm meet), during which we are also running some "Introduction to Rugby" sessions

2) Players aged 11+ can come along to our Womens Rugby team session - watch this space for more details after our launch event.

3) Younger players are able to join the boys tag rugby teams, starting with our U6 group.

We will be holding an open training session and information evening on Friday 14th October at the club to officially launch Womens Rugby team. See details on the picture above this article.

Please note that we also have several volunteer opportunities behind the scenes helping with fixture planning, coaching, social media/online, sponsorship/local business connections, social events etc. We'd love to have experienced people onboard regardless of whether you have a desire to play or not.
