Following our recent announcement of our O2 Touch accreditation, we were delighted to welcome a record turn out of players of all ages to celebrate the official launch. Our branded display equipment, new rugby balls and stylish pink bibs were used for the first time to good effect in showcasing the benefits of being part of this great initiative.

After a few words from our O2 Touch organiser, our chairman Ged Gurney and our RFU representative, Julian Gilding, we had a ceremonial cutting of the ribbon! Once the formalities were completed, the players took to the pitch to play a few games of Touch against a backdrop of a glorious sunset.

The evening was also attended by a number of our committee members and on the pitch it was great to see some Junior club members down injecting some pace into the proceedings! Touch Rugby is a game that players of all abilities and ages can enjoy and this evening was a wonderful example of that.

We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along tonight and also to those who have supported this fun, social initiative since it started over a year ago. Lets keep it growing and developing for years to come!

Fancy giving touch rugby a go? Its a social sport, great fun and good for fitness too! We meet every Monday at 7:30pm at Stockport RUFC on Headlands Road. The sessions cost £3pp (£1.50 student/Junior club members FREE) and the funds raised go towards venue hire, equipment and improving the facilities.

It is open to all over 13s, male, female, club members, non-members, rugby players, non-rugby players. The emphasis is on fun and enjoyment for all.
