England capped Dean Scofield confirmed to take over as player coach for the Senior section of the club.

Dean Schofield recently confirmed his acceptance to take over as player coach for the senior section of the club and to supervise the player development of emerging junior players.

As many will know Dean's career includes an England cap, Captain of Toulon, Worcester Warriors and Sale Sharks. On a personal basis he is married to Gemma Schofield, Mini/Junior committee member and therefore son in law of our Chief Executive Stewart Bertenshaw.

Despite a very difficult season for the Senior teams, credit must go to current coach Rick Spencer having shown massive commitment to what became a limited squad. Our good wishes go with him for his future endeavours.

Dean will assume his role in June when pre-season is expected to start earlier than usual. Dean is expecting to strengthen the existing squad in key areas with the ultimate aim to return to National League rugby and play winning rugby at 2's and below.

New Player announcements will follow in a few weeks as we look forward to an exciting season 2017/18.

As a further development the Rugby Committee is to be extended to include Mini/Junior representation in recognition of the importance of a collaborative approach to successful rugby through all the age groups and upwards to Senior rugby.
