David's funeral will take place Tuesday 7th December at 1-30pm, Dean Row Chapel, Wilmslow, SK9 2BT and afterwards at the Alderley Edge Hotel, Macclesfield Rd, SK9 7BJ.

After leaving School in December 1963, David began playing for the Felons XV down at Handley Road. He gradually progressed to Senior rugby and became a 2nd XV stalwart. He made a few 1st XV appearances making his debut at Chester in 1965. He became interested in supporting the Felons in an attempt to attract new Members from local Schools. He would watch the School matches on a Saturday morning, before playing in the afternoon. He managed to recruit quite a few new players, having particular success at Mosley Hall with Marcus Gordon, Frank Garvey, Don Goulden, Merv Ryley, Arthur Betts(CHS) and many others.
He loved Touring, the most memorable being to Manhattan, New York. The tales he recounted were numerous and hilarious. Work eventually took him away from his beloved Davenport. It will always be Davenport for the Oldhams. Many years later he returned to the Stockport area and recommenced his association with the Club as a keen Supporter. Many trips following the 1st XV ensued and his departure from us could not have happened better for him, having watched us defeat the Wa Wa’s. David lived life to the full and went out with a bang, he was a huge character and will be sorely missed.
Our thoughts are with Sandra, Tracey & Roger, Nicola & Mike, Stephen & Rachel, Laura & Leigh and his six Grandchildren at this very sad time.
